Read: Judges 8-9
Marked: Judges 8:27, Then Gideon made it into an ephod and set it up in his city, Ophrah. And all Israel played the harlot with it there. It became a snare to Gideon and to his house.
God had done a great thing and had used Gideon, but he let things go to his head. He had an ephod made, a false image, and Israel played the harlot with it. Instead of drawing them back to God, it only moved them further away.
A good lesson. May my witness draw men to God and not move them further away. There is no need to make anything in commemoration of what God has done. He alone is worthy of praise.
