Picking and Choosing…

They feared the LORD, yet served their own gods–according to the rituals of the nations from among whom they were carried away. ~ 2 Kings 17:33

These people gave a measure of respect to God but mostly did their own thing and served other god’s. They picked and chose what they would and wouldn’t do in a religious sense. Their knowledge of God was a mixture of truth and error.

This describes some in the church today. They acknowledge the God of the Bible, but do whatever pleases them, listening to men who pervert the word of God for their own purposes.

Charles Spurgeon said, “Let me be right, and let there be no mistake about it; but do not let me try to be both right and wrong, washed and filthy, white and black, a child of God, and a child of Satan.”
