Read: Proverbs 22-23
Marked: Proverbs 22:17, Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, And apply your heart to my knowledge.
This is an invitation to come close, to incline my ear to receive teaching from someone wise.
There is no greater wisdom than God’s word. But am I prepared to receive it? Am I interested? Do I want to learn? Is it worth my time?
These and other considerations must be made or I will not be ready to listen and learn, and no matter how wise the words, they won’t be applied.
A decision must be made regarding what I’m about to receive. First of all, is it true? Secondly, is it important to me? Thirdly, is my heart ready to receive? Fourthly, will I act on what I receive?
