The Power of God…

Read: Job 11-13
Marked: Job 12:10, In whose hand is the life of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?

The power of God is beyond our comprehension. In His hand He holds the life and breath of man and every living creature.

Genesis 6 begins the story of Noah and the decision God made to destroy man because of wickedness.

But now God says that He’ll never destroy the earth by flood again. Yet the power to do so is still in His hand and all mankind should consider this and fear God.

Fear is not a bad thing. We fear fire so we avoid burning the house down. But fire also cooks our food and we enjoy good food well cooked.

We should fear God because He has the power to end life as we know it. But trusting in and learning to walk in His ways also brings with it the joy of an abundant life, and the blessing of His grace.

Our Own Mouths Condemn Us…

Read: Job 8-10
Marked: Job 9:20, Though I were righteous, my own mouth would condemn me; Though I were blameless, it would prove me perverse.

Proverbs 20:6 says that all men will proclaim their own goodness. The truth is another matter.

We have all lied, coveted, dishonoured parents, lusted, and certainly haven’t put God first. Yet, we think we are good people.

When the Bible declares God is good, it means He is morally perfect. Not one of us can claim that.

Though we may think we are good, all we have to do is open our mouths and dispel any doubt. As Romans 3:10 says, “There is none righteous, no not one.”

If we are honest with ourselves, we would agree this is true.
