Rights and Freedoms…

Read: 1 Corinthians 9-11
Marked: 1 Corinthians 9:19, For though I am free from all [men,] I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;

In this day of COVID-19, some cry out for their rights; even among believers in Christ. The right to gather or the right to not wear masks,

Paul said, as an apostle he had the right to expect to be supported in the work he did (V1-14), but chose not to exercise that right (V15).

As a believer and an apostle he was a free man. He could do as he pleased but didn’t want his work to be invalidated by anyone claiming Paul did it to enrich himself.

Therefore, Paul would rather be seen as a servant so that his message wasn’t rejected and he could win more to the gospel. This is something to consider whenever I feel I have the “right” to do something.
