The Value of Scripture…

Read: 2 Timothy 1-4
Marked: 2 Timothy 3:16, All Scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

All Scripture is profitable, or, adds value. It’s not valuable like gold or silver, but adds value to what we do.

No matter our profession, we all want to be good at what we do. Through the Word of God, its teachings and instructions, we prove the things that are right and good. We find correction in our understanding of right and wrong and we received instruction in living rightly and justly and mercifully with integrity, and correct thinking.

Whatever we do we become better at it by applying the Word of God. It adds value and we profit by it.

Perfected Forever…

Read: Hebrews 7-10
Marked: Hebrews 10:14, For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

Such is the power of the gospel, the Good News of forgiveness in Jesus Christ. We try so hard to be good, to be righteous. But the truth is, no matter how hard we strive, no matter the good things we do, no amount of self-righteousness can atone for our sin. They are but shadows (v1).

But Jesus, because of Who He is, and what He did on the cross, is able to “perfect forever “. No more wondering. No more looking back. Simply walking with Jesus in abiding faith, trusting in Him alone for sanctification. It is grace which sets me free. Not my works.
