Read: Numbers 1-2
Marked: Numbers 1:1, Now the LORD spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of meeting, on the first [day] of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying:
They had left Egypt, the land of slavery, and seen God do wonderful things. But they’d been in the wilderness for two years already instead of the Promised Land.
The Book of Numbers in Hebrew is called, In the Wilderness. They would spend 38 more years there when the distance from Egypt to Canaan was, perhaps, twelve days.
God called them a stiff-necked people a number of times. They fought God on several occasions and through disobedience and were unwilling to trust Him.
I can spend time in the wilderness too when God desires to take me to the Promised Land. When I am disobedient or ignore God’s will He May very well keep me in a place that isn’t very comfortable; dry, dusty, and hot, until I learn the lesson’s He desires me to learn.
