Read: Deuteronomy 30-31
Marked: Deuteronomy 31:16, And the LORD said to Moses: “Behold, you will rest with your fathers; and this people will rise and play the harlot with the gods of the foreigners of the land, where they go [to be] among them, and they will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them.”
In spite of the warnings God has given the people, and the instruction in blessings and curses, God knew the people would forsake Him and break the covenant He made with them.
This must have come as a hard blow to Moses. He had already seen the people return to idolatry once and had been witness to the devastation that had occurred. God had wanted to destroy them then, but at the supplication of Moses, God stayed His hand.
Will we take God at His word, or do our own thing and ignore the consequences which God has clearly laid out for us? There is a heaven to gain and a hell to avoid. It’s really up to us.
