Read: Judges 10-12
Marked: Judges 10:8, From that year they harassed and oppressed the children of Israel for eighteen years–all the children of Israel who [were] on the other side of the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, in Gilead.
The children of Israel had done evil in the sight of the Lord (V16). They forsook God and served the gods of Syria, Sidon, Moab, Ammon, and the Philistines, and did not serve God.
The children of Israel were harassed and oppressed for eighteen years. It took eighteen years for them to get that they had sinned against God (V10).
How long does it take me to realize I am suffering harassment and oppression because I have sinned? It wasn’t until the children of Israel repented from their idolatry (V15-16), that things changed.
I can’t let sin go on in my life and expect God to turn a blind eye to it. I will be held accountable until I recognize my sin, repent, and turn from it.
