Read: 1 Chronicles 6
Marked: 1 Chronicles 6:49, But Aaron and his sons offered sacrifices on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense, for all the work of the Most Holy [Place,] and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.
Only the line of Aaron could offer sacrifices on the altar. Only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies and make atonement for Israel. The line of Aaron points us to the Priest who was to come who wouldn’t offer a sacrifice of bulls and goats (Hebrews 10:4), but Himself, shedding His own blood for us.
There have been others who have come, and still do, who say they are the path to God. But only Jesus gave Himself that we might know God. Only Jesus atoned for our sins. It isn’t by those who have come and gone that we can know God, but only through the One and only begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ.
