Read: 2 Chronicles 6-7; Psalms 136
Marked: Psalms 136:1, Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for [He is] good! For His mercy [endures] forever.
If we need a reason to give thanks to the Lord, Psalms 136 gives us many. The goodness of God is beyond question. His mercy, which endures forever, is but one example.
Mercy is defined by His love and kindness towards anyone, and His sure and precious promises to those who seek Him with all their hearts, mind, and soul.
We give thanks because He is the God of gods and the Lord of lords. There is none other. He is the Highest of high enthroned above the heavens. He remembers our lowly state and rescues us from our enemies and gives food to all flesh.
So let us give thanks to the God of heaven.
