Read: Amos 1-5
Marked: Amos 2:4, Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away its [punishment,] Because they have despised the law of the LORD, And have not kept His commandments. Their lies lead them astray, [Lies] which their fathers followed.
God brought punishment on Judah because of their transgressions; they despised the Word of God. I have spoken with those who don’t believe the Bible is relevant today. But I fear for those who despise the Bible blaming it for the ills of society.
Judah did not keep God’s commandments and as a result were lead astray by lies. It is a lie of the highest order to think the Word of God has no place in our lives. 1 John 5:3 equates love for God with keeping His Word.
It should come as no surprise that love for God in society is low because His Word is despised. Is it any wonder there are so many who struggle in the world and that there is so much anger, hatred, racism, and violence?
God’s Word is despised and His commandments ignored. We have been lead astray by lies and we follow them.
