Read: Isaiah 49-53
Marked: Isaiah 53:3, He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, [our] faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Isaiah chapter 53 is a most profound chapter highlighting the life, death, and work of the Messiah Jesus Christ. As much as we chase after idols of our own making, we also despise and reject Jesus, unless the Father draws him (John 6:44).
It’s unfathomable how many curse the name of Jesus, yet know nothing about Him; who despise Him, yet have never given any thought to Him; who reject Him, yet have never considered His words.
We have, like sheep, all gone astray; we have each turned to our own way (V6), even if that way is way of death. In spite of our rejection of Him, God saw fit to cast all our iniquities on Jesus. And He bore our sin and made intercession for us. Why would we not at least consider who He is?
