Marked: Joel 1:15, Alas for the day! For the day of the LORD [is] at hand; It shall come as destruction from the Almighty.
We could say the days since the industrial revolution has been the age of man, a time of exceeding growth, wealth and opportunity. But God says that He will have His day too. A day in which He will hold man accountable for sin.
What Joel sees is an example of what will come. The Day of the Lord will have its final fulfillment when the Lord Jesus judges the earth.
God’s judgment is always with the intent to return man back to Himself. Man has largely forsaken God and rejoices in his own accomplishments without regard to God.
As much as we don’t like to think about it, the Day of the Lord will come in all of its destructive power until man has no other choice but to cry out to the Lord.
