Read: Daniel 7-9
Marked: Daniel 7:1, In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head [while] on his bed. Then he wrote down the dream, telling the main facts.
God used dreams and visions to show His prophets what was to come. But dreams and visions are more the exception than the rule. Yet, there is something about dreams and visions that attract us. Perhaps it’s the mystery and the promise of unique knowledge.
But even the dreams and visions which are explained in Scripture are sometimes difficult to understand unless much time is spent in a study of God’s Word and historical events.
1 Corinthians 13:8 tells us that prophecies will cease. And the writer of Hebrews suggests that while God chose to speak to us through prophets, in these last days, God speaks to us through His Son (Hebrews 1:1-2).
Rather than seeking after dreams and visions and prophetic signs, perhaps we are better off obeying the words of the Son of God?
