Zechariah 10-14
Marked: Zechariah 11:17, “Woe to the worthless shepherd, Who leaves the flock! A sword [shall be] against his arm And against his right eye; His arm shall completely wither, And his right eye shall be totally blinded.”
Jesus spoke about the hireling shepherd who abandons the flock when he sees the wolf coming because he does not care about the sheep (John 10:12-13).
We have a responsibility to look for shepherds who stay true to their calling. Paul warns us in 2 Timothy 4:3-4, not to chase after teachers who turn us away from the truth and sound doctrine.
Ultimately, a false shepherd will arise and the world will receive him even as it rejected Jesus; as He warns us in John 5:43. This “worthless shepherd” will receive a wound in his arm and right eye at some point
Revelation 13:3 reveals this coming worthless shepherd as the anti-Christ who is healed of the deadly wound, “and the world marvelled and followed”.
