The Rubble of Life…

Read: Nehemiah 1-5
Marked: Nehemiah 4:10-11, Then Judah said, “The strength of the laborers is failing, and [there is] so much rubbish that we are not able to build the wall.” And our adversaries said, “They will neither know nor see anything, till we come into their midst and kill them and cause the work to cease.”

Have you ever worked so hard, yet never seem to get ahead? The harder you try the more difficult it gets. This is how the people felt as they set about restoring the walls of Jerusalem. There was so much rubble that all their effort was spent clearing it.

What rubble do we have in our lives that keeps us from accomplishing what God desires of us? Not only did they have to deal with the rubble but also the enemies around them, discouraged, mocked and threatened them (V8).

When we face what appears to be insurmountable odds let’s remember what Nehemiah told the people. “Remember the Lord, great and awesome”. Go to God in prayer and do what He commands and God will bring these plots to nothing and see you through (V15).
