Read: Matthew 11
Marked: Matthew 11:2-3, And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”
We all have doubts once in awhile. Even followers of Jesus. And that is why it is so important to let the Word of God be our guide rather than our feelings and thoughts.
John the Baptist may have doubted, so to allay his doubt, being in prison, he sent two of his disciples to ask Jesus, “are you the coming One, or do we look for another?” Jesus did two things. First, He pointed them to the work He did. Second, He pointed them to the Scriptures.
We see from both that Jesus is the One the Bible prophesied would come and who would do these and other works as evidence of who He is.
Doubt comes to all of us at one time or another, but the Word of God gives assurances like 1 John 5-11-13, or John 5:24. Peter also addresses the doubts of many in 2 Peter 3:1-9 concerning Jesus coming again.
It’s been almost two thousand years and Jesus has not returned. But the Word of God is as true as it ever was. Let’s be ready when the time comes for Jesus to return.
