Read: John 7-8
Marked: John 8:58, Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
Some say Jesus never said He was God, or, that He never claimed to be divine. Yet, here in Jesus’ own words He proclaims His eternal existence and divinity.
The “I Am” is the eternal name by which God made Himself known to Moses (Exodus 3:13-14). God simply is. He always existed. There has never been a time when God wasn’t.
And Christ is saying the same thing about Himself. In fact, Jesus makes the claim that He is equal with God and His detractors knew it. Why else did they take up stones to throw at Him?
