Read: Acts 11-12
Marked: Acts 11:19-20, Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but the Jews only. But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.
Peter had brought the gospel to the gentile Cornelius and his household. A persecution followed the death of Stephen and believers were scattered.
At first, they brought the gospel only to Jews (V19), but among the scattered were men from Cyprus and Cyrene and they brought the gospel to the Hellenists in Antioch and eventually gentiles heard the gospel and a “great number believed and turned to the Lord” (V21b).
When the commandment to go and make disciples is obeyed we see the fruit of it. As promised in Matthew 28:20, “the hand of the Lord was with them” (V21). The Lord is always with those who do what He commands
