Read: Acts 13-14
Marked: Acts 13:47, “For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”
The Lord chose Abraham to found the nation of Israel, to be priests and evangelists, to carry the knowledge of God to the world.
God is a god of mission and blesses us to be a blessing. The church has certainly been blessed. But are we a blessing to others? Are we light to those around us?
According to Isaiah 49:6 the Lord commanded Israel to be a light to the gentiles and to be salvation to the ends of the earth. But they had failed in their mission even turning their backs on the gentiles.
Likewise, the Lord has commanded the church to go and make disciples of all the nations. Will we obey, or will we abandon our responsibilities to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16)?
