Know Thine Enemy…

Read: Genesis 1-3
Marked: Genesis 3:1, Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

Do we know we have an enemy, a cunning enemy whom 1 Peter 5:8 warns is our adversary who walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour? In John 8:44 Jesus calls the devil a murderer in which there is no truth, and a liar and the father of lies.

We need to be wary of him. But God has given us His word to know what He has said and by it withstand the onslaught of the enemy, and exercise our senses to discern both good and evil (Hebrews 5:14). When we submit to God we resist the devil and he will flee from us. (James 4:7).
