Read: Genesis 16-18
Marked: Genesis 16:9, The Angel of the LORD said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.”
God has spoken and has promised Abraham and Sarai a child. But instead of waiting on the Lord they take matters into their own hands. Sarai give Hagar to Abraham as wife. He goes into her and she conceived.
But once the child is born trouble arises between the two women; jealousy, strife, and contention and Hagar runs away. God finds her and instructs her to return and submit herself to Sarai.
We are never too eager to submit ourselves to another, especially someone who treats us wrong. But obeying God is submitting to His wisdom and knowledge and we are always better off working in His plan than labouring outside of it.
God has a plan and He will be faithful to complete it. We either submit to Him or we do our own thing and suffer the result.
