Read: Genesis 32-34
Marked: Genesis 32:28, And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
God changed Jacob’s name from meaning supplanter or untrustworthy or schemer to Israel, meaning God prevails. In a sense all Christians are Israel, but we don’t always remember that.
Jacob struggled with doing his own will versus doing God’s will. It takes time and practice obeying God and learning that God’s will and ways are best for us. We will prevail when we remember that God’s Spirit is in us.
