Store Up While Times are Good…

Read: Genesis 41-42
Marked: Genesis 41:25-26, Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh [are] one; God has shown Pharaoh what He [is] about to do: The seven good cows [are] seven years, and the seven good heads [are] seven years; the dreams [are] one.”

God revealed to Pharaoh the seven years of plenty were to be followed by seven years of famine. Joseph was able to warn Pharaoh what was to take place before it occurred. Wisely, Pharaoh listened to Joseph’s advice to store up food during the years of plenty so there would be supply during the years of famine.

This is wise advice for us too. We work and enjoy the fruit of our labour, but wisdom says we should lay aside a portion of our earnings for future use.

Joseph recommended one-fifth be set aside ensuring plenty during subsequent years of famine. We never know when we might need it. The time to act is now, not when the famine occurs.
