Read: Deuteronomy 32-34
Marked: Deuteronomy 32:1, “Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.”
The Song of Moses. There’s something about music and songs that make them memorable. I listen to a meaningful song over and over and years later I can remember what the lyrics are and what the song meant to me.
The Song of Moses is a teaching song giving great insight into the character and nature of God and His relationship with me and Moses entreats me to give ear and let his teaching drop as rain (V2). God is my rock and His work is perfect, all His ways are just, a God of truth and without injustice. He is righteous and upright (V4).
The song describes who God’s children are and those who are not (V5). The perverse and crooked are foolish and unwise (V6). How am I to approach God? How am I to learn about Him? By remembering the days of old (V7). He found me wandering as in a desert, but wrapped me in His love and instructed me. He kept me as the apple of His eye (V10).
The song is filled with relevance for those who truly want to know God and seek Him. And relevance for for those who ignore and reject Him. The song reveals God so I can see who He is and that there is no God besides Him (V39).
This is the perfect example of a true worship song. I love the book of Deuteronomy. There’s so much wisdom and instruction in it.
