Good vs Evil…

Read: 1 Samuel 21-24
Marked: 1 Samuel 24:17, Then he said to David: “You [are] more righteous than I; for you have rewarded me with good, whereas I have rewarded you with evil.

Saul wanted to kill David. David did everything in his power not to fight against Saul. Even when he had opportunity to take Saul out, he didn’t. And even Saul, in spite of his psychotic state, recognized it.

Hatred, as well as fear, will make us do things we normally might not do. But we are to do what God instructs. That is what righteousness is. Not just doing the right thing, but doing the right thing according to God’s Word.

Romans 12:21 reiterates this lesson when it says we are to overcome evil with good. Retaliation in the face of evil is never to be our first response.
