Don’t be Hasty…

Read: 2 Samuel 4-7
Marked: 2 Samuel 4:12, So David commanded his young men, and they executed them, cut off their hands and feet, and hanged [them] by the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth and buried [it] in the tomb of Abner in Hebron.

David rarely did things without first inquiring of the Lord (C2:1; 5:19, 23). These men who murdered Ishbosheth did what they did because they thought David would be pleased. He wasn’t; and they paid with their lives.

I should be careful doing what I think, or think someone else would want me to do. What matters is being sure of what God desires. Hasty decisions and blatant disregard of God’s Word leads only to trouble. Do I take time to inquire of the Lord before acting?
