Read: 2 Samuel 8-12
Marked: 2 Samuel 8:1, After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines and subdued them. And David took Metheg Ammah from the hand of the Philistines.
The Philistines had been enemies of Israel since the day they entered the Promised Land and continued to oppress and dominate them. But David turned the tables and attacked and subdued them and even took the great Philistine capital city of Metheg Ammah from them. This city, also known as Gath, was the birthplace of the great champion of the Philistines, Goliath.
My enemy oppressed me for years before I came to the Lord Jesus. The enemy nibbled away at me like a locust for too many years. But no more. I take the fight to him through diligently doing what God has commanded me; to study His Word, pray, and walk with Him
God promises in Joel 2:25 that He will restore all the years that the swarming locust has eaten. And He has. Life in Christ is a life restored. No more fear of death. Just living according to the promises of an eternal life in Jesus.
