Read: Esther 1-5
Marked: Esther 1:4, when he showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the splendor of his excellent majesty for many days, one hundred and eighty days [in all.]
King Ahasueres reigned over a vast kingdom from India to Ethiopia. A powerful king who gave a feast in the third year of his reign and showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the splendour of his excellent majesty for one hundred and eighty days (V4).
As splendid as his kingdom was, no earthly kingdom can compare tonthe Kingdom of God which is to come. In 1 Corinthians 2:9 we’re told, But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Revelation 21 gives us a glimpse of His kingdom and the new city Jerusalem which walls are of jasper and of pure gold like clear glass. The foundations are adorned with all kinds of precious stones.
The gates of the city are made from individual pearls with streets of pure gold, like transparent glass. And God illuminated it. The Lamb (Jesus) is its light. Truly a glorious Kingdom.
