Marked: 1 Samuel 12:21, And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing.
Go after empty things. The word, “empty”, means desolate, formless, or worthless.
Without the Lord my life would be empty of meaning, desolate. I have to keep my flesh in check because it is so easy to set what is excellent aside and settle for what is worthless.
We do what we value. Therefore, the question I have to ask myself is, “How much do I value God and His word in my life?”
