Read: Judges 8-9
Marked: Judges 8:5, Then he said to the men of Succoth, “Please give loaves of bread to the people who follow me, for they are exhausted, and I am pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.”
Gideon was in a battle and his men were, understandably, tired and hungry. But he didn’t get any help from his brothers.
It’s discouraging when fellow believers won’t get involved in the fight. He wasn’t even asking them to fight, just to provide some comfort and strength to those who were fighting. Few engage in the battle. Fewer still support the battle.
I recently learned some startling statistics. It is estimated that the earned wealth within Christendom is around 108.9 billion dollars. Yet, only 0.1% is given to the work of spreading the gospel via missions. We spend 98.2% on ourselves. Another 1.7% is spent on other organizations and activities.
