A Straight Line…

Read: Genesis 12-15
Marked: Genesis 12:3, I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Out of all the people on the earth God chose one man, Abram (Abraham), to begin His plan of salvation.

From Abram would come one nation and from that one nation would come one Saviour, Jesus Christ, through whom the whole world could be saved from sin and death.

It’s a brilliant plan. We don’t need to figure out which religion is right, or which God to serve. We simple follow a straight line from God to Abraham to Jesus to salvation.

Do We Condemn God?

Read: Job 40-42
Marked: Job 40:8, “Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?”

People condemn God because they observe pain and suffering in the world; wars, famines, and death. “Why doesn’t God do something?”, they cry.

But really, isn’t this just a way to justify our own sin? If God doesn’t do anything about the injustice in the world then surely I won’t be held accountable for my sins?

Wars, famines, death, pain, suffering are really the result of man’s inhumanity to man because of our rejection of God’s Sovereignty.

We might as well ask ourselves, “Why don’t we do something about these things?” After all, don’t these things result from our desire for pleasure and prosperity at the expense of others and because of our disobedience to God?
