Read: Genesis 46-47
Marked: Genesis 47:19, “Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants of Pharaoh; give [us] seed, that we may live and not die, that the land may not be desolate.”
What would you give to live and not die? These people had given everything they had, their last dollar and their livestock, finally selling themselves and their land. Everything they needed to make a living, sustain themselves, and live, they gave up to become servants so they could continue to live and not die.
What are you willing to give up to have eternal life? Jesus said, in Matthew 10:39, “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”
When we come to the end of ourselves, then we will be ready to receive this life that Jesus offers.
