Marked: Genesis 27:13, But his mother said to him, “[Let] your curse [be] on me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, get [them] for me.”
Jacob knew that what his mother wanted to do was wrong. But his mother said the consequences would be on her. That’s a nice thought, but the results of our actions are ours to own. We can’t give them away and we certainly can’t blame others, as much as we’d like to.
While the plan was Rebekah’s Jacob willingly participated. We see later that it cost Jacob his relationship with his brother, he was taken advantage of by his uncle, and, he likely never saw his mother again.
Ultimately, it comes down to doing what’s right. Not what’s expedient.
